9-Feb-45 when the Reeder crew was hit by flak just prior to bombing.
The ship
lost altitude at a rate of about 1,000 ft. per minute.
The Reeder crew bailed out and the B-17 crashed at Heringen, around 6km
southeast of Nordhausen (Harz, Germany, some 60 km
northwest of their target at
Weimar, Germany. |
